Patients now have a new, convenient location for the evaluation and treatment of macular and retinal diseases. This office is equipped with state-of-the-art digital imaging, including the Optos California ultra-widefield digital laser scanning imaging system and the Wideﬁeld Enface OCT with SMART™ Motion Correction, a combination unique to the Southeast. Additionally, laser treatments are performed with the Pascal Streamline 577 Scanning Laser for precise and delicate surgical treatment of the retina. Many surgical procedures are performed in office.
Dr. Liggett was a principal investigator on the National Institute of Health Collaborative Ocular Melanoma Study. She has been a clinical professor of ophthalmology at Yale School of Medicine and Weill Cornell Medical College. He founded New England Retina Associates, which had six retina specialists and more than 10,000 patient visits per year. He has written more than 75 articles in peer-reviewed journals and edited four major textbooks on diseases of the macula and retina. He is an examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology, which certifies doctors to practice in ophthalmology. Additionally, he is a member of the American Uveitis Society.
Dr. Liggett received his medical degree from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Cornell University Medical Center in New York City, and his vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the University of Southern California. He is board certified in ophthalmology.
