Patients now have a new, convenient location for the evaluation and treatment of macular and retinal diseases. Our office is equipped with cutting edge retina imaging, laser, and treatment equipment including the Optos wide-angle California digital imaging system (exclusive in South Carolina), the PASCAL Streamline 532 Scanning Laser system with eye tracking technology (exclusive in South Carolina) and the Optovue Avanti OCT laser imaging system. The office is located on Hilton Head Island at 15 A Lafayette Place, near the Indigo Run entrance.
Dr. Liggett was a principal investigator on the National Institute of Health Collaborative Ocular Melanoma Study. He has been a clinical professor of ophthalmology at Yale School of Medicine and Weill Cornell Medical College. He founded New England Retina Associates, which had six retina specialists and more than 10,000 patient visits per year. He has written more than 75 articles in peer-reviewed journals and edited four major textbooks on diseases of the macula and retina. He is an examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology, which certifies doctors to practice in ophthalmology. Additionally, he is a member of the American Uveitis Society.
Dr. Liggett received his medical degree from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Cornell University Medical Center in New York City, and his vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the University of Southern California. He is board certified in ophthalmology.
